2025 JAMB Admission deadline [JAMB Official Update]

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the deadlines for the 2025 admission exercise across all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

According to the board, public universities are expected to conclude their admission processes between October 30 and December 31, 2025. The same schedule applies to private universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other institutions across the country.

In a statement released by JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs, the board emphasized that these dates were agreed upon after a policy meeting involving vice-chancellors, provosts, and rectors of higher institutions. The aim is to ensure a smooth and unified academic calendar across the nation’s tertiary education system.

“No institution should exceed the given deadline for the completion of the 2025 admissions. All admissions must be conducted through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) to ensure transparency and accountability,” JAMB stated.

The board further reminded institutions that the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) remains the only recognized platform for offering and accepting admissions. Any admission granted outside CAPS will be considered invalid.

Breakdown of the Deadlines

Public Universities: October 30 – December 31, 2025

Private Universities: October 30 – December 31, 2025

Polytechnics and Colleges of Education: October 30 – December 31, 2025

This timeline gives institutions roughly two months to process their candidates’ admissions before the end of the year.

What This Means for Candidates

Candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or Direct Entry (DE) are advised to:

1. Regularly check their CAPS portal for updates.

2. Accept or reject admission offers promptly once they appear.

3. Ensure their O’Level results are correctly uploaded to avoid disqualification.

4. Avoid falling for fake admission letters or unofficial lists circulating on social media.

With the new deadlines in place, JAMB says it will intensify monitoring of institutions to ensure strict compliance. Institutions that fail to meet the December 31 deadline risk having their admissions cancelled or suspended for the session.

The announcement has brought relief to many students still waiting for updates from universities and polytechnics, especially those whose admission processes were delayed.

As the 2025 academic session gradually takes shape, candidates are encouraged to stay vigilant and follow only verified JAMB communications to avoid scams.

In Summary:

JAMB has set October 30 – December 31, 2025 as the national admission deadline.

All admissions must be processed on CAPS.

Institutions missing the deadline may face sanctions.

Candidates should monitor their admission status regularly and act fast once offers appear.
