JAMB 2025 UTME: Over 900,000 Candidates Successfully Sit as Board Delists Underperforming Centers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) officially commenced the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Thursday, April 24, 2025, across various centers nationwide. This year’s examination has recorded an impressive turnout, with over 2,088,600 registered candidates participating across Nigeria.
As of Friday, April 25, 2025, JAMB confirmed that more than 900,000 candidates had successfully sat for the UTME. The board expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the examination so far, although a few challenges have been reported.
In a move to uphold the integrity and technical standards of the UTME, JAMB announced via its official X (formerly Twitter) account the delisting of several accredited centers that failed to meet required standards. The affected centers were found wanting in areas critical to the seamless execution of the examination, including poor technical setup, infrastructural deficiencies, and unethical practices.
List of Delisted Centers:
- Adventure Associate, Behind Sheshe Supermarket, Off Hadejia Road, Kano, Kano State.
- Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano, Kano State.
- Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 1, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal.
- Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd, Centre 2, 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal.
The board emphasized that regardless of ownership status, any center found compromising JAMB’s high standards would face strict penalties, including immediate delisting and blacklisting.
On a positive note, JAMB also commended 883 examination centers across the country for their exceptional performance in maintaining high technical, ethical, and operational standards. The board encouraged other centers to emulate these models of excellence to ensure future examinations are conducted without hitches.
Furthermore, JAMB revealed that it had apprehended 27 impersonators attempting to undermine the credibility of the examination process. These individuals have been handed over to the Nigeria Police for swift prosecution, signaling the board’s unwavering stance on examination malpractice.
Important Notice to Affected Candidates
Candidates initially scheduled to sit for their exams at the now-delisted centers are advised to urgently reprint their examination notification slips. This will provide details of their newly assigned centers and rescheduled examination dates.
JAMB sincerely apologized for any inconvenience caused by these sudden changes and promised to ensure minimal disruption for affected candidates.
Candidates Share Challenges Encountered
Despite the overall successful start to the UTME, many candidates who sat for their exams on Saturday took to social media platforms to voice their concerns regarding the conduct of the English Language paper.
A significant number reported that some questions were missing or incomplete, particularly in the comprehension and objective sections. This has caused anxiety among candidates, who fear that the missing numbers might unfairly impact their scores.
In response to these complaints, education stakeholders and concerned citizens have urged JAMB to urgently investigate and rectify the issue before the next batch of candidates sits for their examination. It is expected that JAMB will address this matter promptly to maintain the integrity and fairness of the 2025 UTME.
Conclusion
While the 2025 UTME has witnessed a largely smooth rollout so far, JAMB’s swift action in delisting underperforming centers and apprehending impersonators reinforces its commitment to maintaining a credible, transparent, and world-class examination system.
Candidates are encouraged to remain vigilant, follow all official updates from JAMB, and reprint their examination slips if necessary.
We join millions of Nigerians in hoping that the English Language paper issue is thoroughly addressed, ensuring that no candidate is unfairly disadvantaged.
Stay tuned for more updates on the ongoing UTME 2025.
